💻 My Path in Development: 8 Years of Experience, 3 Key Lessons
I once just wanted to build my own website. Now I lead a team building websites that bring clients leads, sales and confidence in their business. Over these 8 years in development I went from freelancer to team founder, worked across dozens of niches and collected hundreds of reviews. Here are the three key lessons I'd pass back to myself 8 years ago.
🧠 Lesson 1: A techie ≠ a problem solver
At the start I thought the main thing was knowing the code, the frameworks, the features. I wrote clean code and built pixel-perfect layouts, but… the site didn't work for the client.
What I learned: A client doesn't need code. They need a result: leads, sales, growth. Today I approach every project from a business perspective, not just a technical one. My job is to build a website that works, not one that merely "exists".
🔁 Lesson 2: Repeatability wins
At first every project felt like starting from scratch: new approaches, experiments, chaos. It was exhausting.
What I learned: Results come when you build a system. We put a clear process in place: brief → strategy → design → development → launch → support. That let us scale, deliver predictable quality and get more done.
💬 Lesson 3: Communication matters more than code
There were moments when a project went off the rails not because of technical problems, but because of a misunderstanding with the client.
What I learned: Clear communication is the foundation of success. Today I always stay in touch, share updates and explain things in plain language. Clients value that. And a happy client → repeat work → word of mouth.
