What Can a Website Actually Do for My Business?
This is one of the most common questions entrepreneurs and business owners ask themselves.
Let’s break it down together. Since there’s a lot to unpack, I’ve divided it into a few key parts.
1. Lead Generation Through Your Website
A website is basically your business card — but a living, dynamic one. It’s the place where you can show everything your potential customer needs to know: your services, details, portfolio, reviews, and contact options.
When your website is well-optimized, people can easily find it on Google. For example, someone searching for a service you offer might come across your site, read about what you do, and even discover other offers they didn’t know they needed.
In short, your website works for you 24/7, bringing in new clients simply because they were looking for information.
2. Independence from Social Media
One day, the social network Vkontakte suddenly stopped working in Ukraine. Even Telegram has been hit by massive DDoS attacks before, leaving people unable to communicate.
If you think about it, every social platform belongs to a specific company or developer — and at any moment, it could go down, get restricted, or even shut down completely.
Many businesses build their presence on Instagram, Telegram, or even WhatsApp, investing time and effort to grow an audience there. But what happens if one of those platforms stops working?
That’s the point: if one day social media goes down or gets blocked, and your business lives only there, you’ll have to start from scratch.
But your website stays online — as long as the internet exists
In other words, your website is your digital property. No one can delete it, block it, or take it away from you — because it’s built from code that belongs entirely to you.
3. Scaling Your Business
This part applies especially to online stores — both large ones and those just starting out.
So what kind of scaling are we talking about? 🤔 The kind where customers can browse your products, place orders, pay online, and even get automated shipping labels — all without your manual input.
For example, integration with Nova Poshta (the Ukrainian delivery service) is a game-changer. When a customer places an order, the system automatically creates a shipping label and fills in all the sender and recipient info. All you have to do is drop off the package 🙂
And here’s another big win — you’re not limited by location. With a website, your store in Ukraine can easily sell nationwide, not just in your city.
In short: if you want to stay flexible and grow your sales — a website is a must-have.
There are still plenty of interesting topics around “Why do I need a website?” But I’ll cover those in future posts — probably around ten of them 🫠
