Voltage | Marketing site for a renewable energy company
About project
Voltage sells commercial battery storage — redox flow systems that let commercial and agricultural businesses store surplus renewable generation and draw on it when the sun is not cooperating. The pitch is energy independence and carbon neutrality, aimed at operations directors rather than consumers.
My part was the front end: turning the Figma design into hand-written HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The design leans entirely on typography — enormous outline lettering across a near-black page, with a single acid-green accent doing all the signalling for links and calls to action. There is almost no decoration, which is exactly what makes it hard: at that scale, letter spacing, line breaks and how the type reflows on a narrow screen are the whole design, and there is nothing to hide behind when they go wrong.
The structure is a conventional B2B marketing site — company, mission, process, blog and contact — with repeated discovery-call calls to action, so the layout work was about keeping that oversized type legible and correctly broken from a wide desktop down to a phone.
Type: B2B energy · front-end build
Stack: HTML, CSS, vanilla JS
Focus: Typographic layout
A hand-written front end where the type does all the work: near-black page, one acid-green accent, no decoration to fall back on.
