Can You Really Build a Website for Almost Nothing, or Is It Just a Cheap Trap? 🤔

Let’s talk about the freelance market — because that’s where you can really get a website for a low price compared to web studios. But you need to be careful.

Some freelancers agree to take on a project just to build their portfolio, offering to make a site for, say, $300, while the real cost of such a project is around $1200–1400.

Sounds tempting, right? But here’s the thing — there are two main reasons why the price might be so low.

1. Experience. If something goes wrong and the freelancer can’t fix it, you’ll have to pay another developer to clean things up — and that means extra cost and wasted time.

2. Project decisions. Not every low-cost freelancer can choose the best solution for your project. Often, they’ll just do what they’re used to — not necessarily what’s right for your case.

So, the conclusion is simple: If you go for the cheapest option, you’ll most likely end up spending more money and time fixing mistakes. And in many cases, the total cost ends up the same as if you’d hired an experienced professional from the start.

Sometimes, you might even need to rebuild everything from scratch — and then your $300 just disappear.

In the next post, I’ll explain how to tell whether a freelancer can actually deliver or is just “good with words.”
